Campaign Kickoff

On Friday, September 10, 2010, the Georgetown County United Way will officially kick off its Annual Community Campaign. Business representatives, board members, school and county officials and volunteers are invited to put on their favorite NFL football jersey and meet us in the board room at the JB Beck Administration Bldg for a campaign rally featuring a local NFL football hero - Robert Geathers, formerly with the Buffalo Bills.  And watch the UW partner agencies engage in a *speed race of awareness to the finish line! The event is from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

You are an essential piece to helping our community strengthen the building blocks to a good life through education, income, and health. Learn how United Way is taking steps to impact healthy living through its launch of the Nell B. Jackson Health Initiative.

The Back to Football Friday Celebration is also engaging the schools by asking all children, faculty and staff to show their school pride by wearing their school football jerseys/colors.

Businesses and departments within companies are encouraged to participate as well by wearing their favorite NFL jerseys, decorating bulletin boards, making displays, etc. even having contests with the best decorated display areas! The idea is to Adopt an NFL Team and showcase your support. At the kickoff, we would like for businesses to bring decorations, colored tablecloths, NFL regalia and the company signage to place on a table for your business. Those individuals who don't have a favorite NFL team can wear their Live United t shirts.

Agency speed race of awareness - 15-20 minutes where, similar to speed-dating, agency reps (2 per agency) will rotate around to each of the tables, telling their story in 2-minute increments to the various audiences. In this way, those who support the United Way can hear directly from some of our partner agencies about how they benefit from campaign contributions.
